1. Send it fast — within 48 hours
Speed signals that the gift mattered. A letter that arrives two days after the donation says we noticed; one that arrives three weeks later says you are a line item. If your team is small, prepare a template shell in advance so only the personal details need to be filled in on the day.
2. Open with the donor, not the organization
